IBO News is committed to accuracy. When we make an error, we correct it promptly and transparently. We do not hide our mistakes.
How We Handle Errors
- Minor Errors: (e.g., typos, spelling names) are corrected immediately in the text.
- Factual Errors: If a story contains a factual error (e.g., wrong date, wrong statistic), we will:
- Correct the text.
- Add a “Correction Note” at the bottom of the article explaining what was changed and when.
- Example: “Correction: An earlier version of this article stated the meeting was on Tuesday. It was actually on Wednesday.”
- Retractions: If a story is found to be fundamentally false or legally compromising, we may retract (delete) it and replace it with an Editor’s Note explaining why.
